Ture Gustafson Interview ![]() Who is Ture Gustafson? Ture is responsible for many aspects of Star Track. Since he first stepped on the set of Star Track 16, he has taken charge of most set design and this website. He is also "Topper" aboard the Idomo and "Mr. Babaganouche", Rhian's right hand man. We recently had the chance to sit down with Ture and ask him a few questions. Here is the interview. Who introduced you to Star Track? Dev Birdi did. It was a number of years back, somewhere near episode 11 or 12. What did you initially think of it? I though it was hilarious crap with a bit of potential. When did you decide to get involved? After episode 16. I felt I could contribute in a manner that would bring up the production value. I thought I could bring my skills and my “determined German” to the table. Things I saw needing were improvements to lighting, set design and building, and over all details. Why did you decide to get involved? There was beer, there was good times to be had, and it gave me an excuse to get more in touch with my creative side. What is your first memory on set? There was lots of beer involved…….. but I think it has to be the terrible “flapping” cardboard consoles on the set of episode 17. those still stand out in my mind. You cant blame me for spending the better part of a whole summer building the almost indestructible consoles we have now. Are you a Star Trek fan? Yup, always have been since I was a little kid. There used to be this terrible “American idol” esque show on called “star search” and I used to get the two confused, until the show came on that is, then I would get pissed off and try to get my parents to call the TV station to put on star trek instead of that no talent talent show. Even then I was a critic. Does your character reflect any aspects of you? I’m a bit of a condescending know it all, so probably yeah, lol. Why do you think Star Track has survived for so long? Sheer determination, lol. I think its due to the fact that we have fun making it. The fact that other people are willing to tolerate sitting through episode after episode is just a bonus. What does the future hold for Star Track? Better story telling, better sets, better CG, and the same ridiculous characters getting into the same cliché situations, over and over and over and over again. Lots of homage’s to things we find funny, things that may be horribly dated, or equally of the moment. Be sure to keep posted as we interview all cast and crew of Star Track in the coming months! |
